Thanksgiving 2016

Hello everyone :}

I hope everyone enjoyed their November :) For me, it's been by far one of my favorite months this year. For the Thanksgiving holidays, my family and I flew up to St. Louis to have dinner at my aunt Peggy's house. My Aunt Anne and Uncle Lawrence flew in from Colorado and joined us for dinner there as well. It was so lovely.

Afterwards, we drove over to my Uncle Darren's house for dessert, and after that, we went back to my Aunt Carol's and watched movies :)

I was more than pleased to see that it actually looks like autumn over there. Most of the trees are still green here in Texas; it's kind of depressing.
It was super chilly in STL, and every time I walked in to my aunt's home, my glasses would completely fog up with all the food cooking haha.

Here's a little peep of my dinner. (mine's consisted mainly of sweet potatoes, green beans, and a little salad) Last Thanksgiving I was only vegetarian, so cheers my first cruelty free thanksgiving ! :'}

I really wanted to make a dish of my own to bring, but my flight came in late that Thanksgiving day, and I didn't have enough time to prepare it there in St. Louis :'(

This is what I wore to dinner :) I kept it casual, and hey. I wore color (; no b&w in this post. Looking at these photos just now, I can't help but get Nancy Wheeler vibes.

I bought these mom jeans for $6 at my local thrift store, and I actually bought this sweater at an antique store there in St. Louis back in March.

I visit St. Louis very often, it's basically my second hometownthis is my fifth time visiting this year.

Hope you all had a swell Thanksgiving and most importantly, spent it close to your loved ones. Till next time.

Dark Autumn Hour

Happy Saturday everybody!! I hope that everyone is enjoying their October and doing some wickedly festive things.

I'm currently in DC with my sister for the weekend - visiting our close friend mj, and oh. my. goodness. the weather is so lovely here :'}
I just got back from a long day of walking in the city, strolling through museums, and sipping coffee.

None of us are morning people to say the least; however, we made plans for tomorrow morning to watch the sunrise at the Lincoln Memorial before our flight back home tomorrow (crossing my fingers that we don't sleep through our alarms).

Till next time !!

Behind The Storm

Hello to all of you beautiful souls.
Happy Wednesday!

If you know me, I don’t typically wear a lot of jewelry, or accessories etc. but I am completely head-over-heels for this black choker. I definitely channel my inner Lily Rose every time I put it on ;)

I ordered this one back in May. I had been looking everywhere for a wide velvet choker, but at the time all I could find were thin ones. Then I browsed through Etsy and found just what I was looking for.

I’m also expecting a silk one from brandy to arrive in the mail some time soon. Yay!

p.s. I didn’t mess up the link to my tank top - I buy them in the kids section. Don't laugh at me.

Sending good vibes & love to all of you!

Why did you start your blog?

I was initially inspired by the big-time fashion bloggers such as Ebba Zingmark, Chiara Ferragni and Sonya Esman... Also, probably because around 90% of the compliments I receive are directed towards the outfits I’m wearing. Having a blog of my own had always been in the back of my mind for the past years, but I never knew how to go about creating one. The thought of it actually frightened me. It wasn’t till recently that I considered giving it a try.

What is your guilty pleasure?

French fries (preferably soggy).

If you could only eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?

That is such a hard question :( However, there are probably 4 things that I am almost always in the mood for:
lentils, rice & avocado, a fresh crispy salad, chia pudding, and avo-toast.

What are your top 3 movies?

Amelie, Silver Linings Playbook, and Super 8
I’m also a fan of spy movies like the Mission Impossible and James Bond films :)

What was your dream last night?

I was stuck in an elevator with my sister for a very long time and once we finally managed to get out, the world was backwards. It was very trippy.

What is one thing you can’t live without?

Probably traveling. Last minute travels feed my soul.

Describe your perfect morning?

A long breakfast with my family, sipping hot tea, and listening to some oldies <3

When do you feel most like yourself?

When I’m with my sister, Tiffany.

1 beauty product that always saves you?

Coconut oil. Best moisturizer & makeup remover.

Favorite book?

All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven.

Your most embarrassing moment?

I knocked over a whole shelf of souvenir plates at a gift shop in Miami a few Summers ago. That was pretty embarrassing.

School started last Monday, so summer has already come to a close… I'm also already burning my fall candles.

Currently in my life: I’m officially a senior in high school... which is just now finally starting to set in. It’s actually a little more stressful than I had anticipated it to be, but that’s probably just because I’ve been feeling a tad scatterbrained lately.

These past few days have been the slowest. Apart from school, they have consisted of me cleaning out my closet because I have been putting that off for far too long... and trying to find new music.

These photos are from quite a while ago, but better late than never in my opinion. ;} Overalls are something that I love dearly but never quite have luck with finding. This overall dress is from Urban and matches with just about everything… and here I kept it minimal and incorporated a little black and white because well… I guess that’s what I do best.

West Coast Road Trip - San Francisco

Here it is :)
The very last part to my West Coast road trip: San Francisco.

First of all, the drive from Portland to California felt like the longest drive ever, but it was incredibly scenic, so wasn’t all that bad. There were beautiful mountains in all directions, and that made the drive worth it.

We arrived at our hotel in San Fran pretty late in the evening, and after dropping our bags off at our room, we decided to go out for a walk by the piers. I didn’t have my camera with me at the time, but we drove over to Pier 1 and walked all the way down to Pier 39. Once we returned back to our hotel, my sister and I went to the lobby for some orange juice and imported some photos to my computer.

The following morning after breakfast, we drove out to Muir Woods. This is probably the most majestic of nature spots. Surrounded by acres and acres of Redwoods (the tallest living things on Earth), the ambience felt like a fairy tale. Easily, we lost track of time and stayed much longer than intended; we even spotted a fawn and four little chipmunks by the gift shop too.

I also shot an entire roll of film while out on this road trip (which reminds me; I still have yet to send it off and have it developed). I feel pretty good about his one :) but hey, it’s the West Coast... the most photogenic part of our country - in my opinion.

We left Muir Woods with quite the appetite, so we drove over to Chinatown for a late lunch. I must say, of all the Chinatowns I have ever been to, San Francisco tops them all.

Last time we were here in San Francisco we weren’t able to visit the painted ladies, so naturally it was a priority to go this time. As we approached the evening, we then drove out to Baker Beach for the perfect (foggy**) sunset by the Golden Gate Bridge. My keds got hella sandy and MAN was it cold (my fingers went numb), but it’s not everyday you get a sunset here, so I wanted to stay as long as I possibly could.

The following morning we ate a light breakfast at Tartine Bakery, and afterwards we drove out to Mr. Holmes Bakehouse. Literally right as we arrived, one of their workers hung up a “sold out” sign on the door and locked it. I don’t think they even had any vegan options… I honestly just wanted a photo of their neon sign ;( haha. I’m coming back to get that photo.

Soon enough we were driving to the airport and then flying back home. I wasn’t home for too long though. Three days after returning, my family and I went on our annual trip to Cancún. That trip is always the highlight of every summer for me :’)
I’m still deciding if I’m going to do a blog post on it though!
Till next time.
