Big Apple Ft. Raashi
Back in June Raashi and her family flew up to NYC so that Raashi could receive her Gold Key Scholastic award that she had been chosen for among several other students throughout the nation.
The award ceremony was celebrated at Carnegie Hall and was a pretty big deal. Like Allison Williams (the girl from Get Out), Ellie Kemper, and Amy Schumer were there. lol. Anyways, I thought that it would be fun to be able to spend a few days in the big apple with Raashi, so I suggested that I could fly up there after the ceremony and go see her art being featured at Pratt!
She said she was DOWN so that's what we DID.
The evening that I arrived we entirely spent strolling around Times Square.
We were about to get our palms read but didn't have any cash on us ;( So then we ate some pasta at Olive Garden and then got some smoothies at Pret A Manger (which I am RLY craving now that I type this damnit).
Afterwards we headed back to the hotel room for a little facial & movie night (one of my favorite past times).
I brought my hdmi cable from back home so that we could hook up the netflix on my laptop to the big tv screen because --that's right-- I'm a prepared little bitch like that.

We watched Inglorious Basterds in case you were wondering.
The Next Day:
On this particular day, we ubered over to Pratt to see Raashi's piece being featured there. You guys. There was so much talent covering these walls.
These are a few of my favorites (besides Raashi's of course).
These two photos above were featured at Parson's** which we walked to afterwards.
After our afternoon of art show hopping, we decided to get some ice cream and go antiquing.
I got Matcha Green Tea + Salted Caramel and Raashi got Planet Earth + Earl Grey Tea :}
The lady at this antique store was so lovely. She showed us these little dolls she made from fabric scraps that she finds laying around. Later, she gave us a speech on how --with the right mentality-- something beautiful can always be created from something average. I really like that.
Random signage that I really like. SO SLEEK.
And the Day After:
We spent the majority of the day in Central park.
Belvedere Castle – perched high on a hill
with a cellist playing swan lake in the distance**

It was so hot this day, I think we had walked about 3 miles at this point -- we were parched & out of water, so we decided to lay in the grass and cool off under the shade of a very fragrant tree. I swear It smelled like peaches.
After reenergizing, we finally walked over to Strawberry Fields to pay a visit to the John Lennon memorial, naturally. I love this place a lot. They'll always have a musician playing some Beatles' bangers here <3 <3
And then a late lunch: I don't remember what this cafe was called. We totally just walked in one of the first ones we saw, but it was hella yum. I got an Acai bowl and raashi got some top-notch avo-toast.
It's really easy being vegan in NYC -- their menus almost always cater to the diet minorities, unlike Dallas.
By the way, I feel like I'm always throwing shade at Texas on here, so get used to it.
We went back to the hotel room and vegged for a few hours before heading out for dinner in cocktail dresses. I didn't take many photos that evening, but just know that we went out to 8th Ave. and had ourselves the tastiest bowl of noodz at Shorty Tang Noodles (which I found through instagram).
Until next time!
